Lauren A. Rudick joined Weiss & Hiller as an associate during the summer in 2007. She handles a wide variety of matters, contributing to the firm's successful practice areas in complex business litigation and transactions, insurance law, and land-use and zoning litigation.
Since joining Weiss & Hiller, she has participated in the prosecution and defense of some of the firm's most complex and high-profile cases in both state and federal courts. Among other things, she is actively engaged in protecting clients against bad faith insurance practices and preparing administrative appeals to the country's largest insurance carriers to assure the proper administration of disability benefits. She successfully litigates against New York City's most prominent developers to assure responsible development and protect the culture and character of New York's diverse neighborhoods. And she is deeply involved in a multi-million dollar lawsuit against the New York Daily News for defamation, working to instill responsible newsgathering and dissemination methods while balancing First Amendment values. She is a hard-hitting attorney with a diverse practice and an eye towards client satisfaction.
Ms. Rudick graduated cum laude and Order of the Barristers from New York Law School and was an Executive member of the Moot Court Association. During law school, she won Best Oral Advocate and was a semi-finalist at the National Entertainment Law Moot Court Competition at Pepperdine University School of Law; and she won Best Oral Advocate and was a National Champion at the National Criminal Procedure Moot Court Competition at Seton Hall University School of Law. She also co-authored New York Law School's National Labor & Employment Law moot court competition.
Prior to Weiss & Hiller, Ms. Rudick was an attorney in the New York office of Weil, Gotshal & Manges, LLP, where she worked primarily in the Securities/Corporate Governance and Antitrust/Trade departments. At Weil, she represented numerous high-profile clients such as General Motors, MasterCard, Providence Equity, the Estee Lauder Companies, and Lehman Brothers, and gained significant experience working on a successful trial team and managing complex discovery issues including e-discovery.
Ms. Rudick participates in a variety of pro bono efforts, including Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, VOTE People, and Habitat for Humanity, and prepared appeals to FEMA for Hurricane Katrina response. She is a musician and assists artists with a variety of production and publishing needs, including bookings at New York City's most famous music venues.
